Owners of the Boston Bruins and Houston Rockets among those who have laid off employees or reduced salaries because of COVID-19 closures.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee urges IOC to postpone Summer Games to “ensure they are conducted under safe and fair conditions.”

Dating back to 1896, there are only 3 other times Summer Olympics haven’t been held as scheduled, and those were all due to war.

Thomas Bach said the IOC is “of course” considering alternatives if the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible to hold Tokyo Games this summer.

Training for Tokyo Olympics is no longer possible for many athletes as facilities close, and finding alternatives puts them, and general public, at risk.

The US Olympic facility closures come after the IOC reiterated plans to proceed with Tokyo Games and that athletes should prepare “as best they can.”
